Reimbursement Consultant
Janet Knoll is the organization’s Medicare and reimbursement expert. She works with her team of Reimbursement Specialists to provide leadership to our client skilled nursing facilities in the management of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) processes in accordance with current federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations. She educates staff on the importance of appropriate completion of the MDS to ensure all services provided are accurately captured to optimize facility Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Janet oversees the restorative components of programming and training. In addition, she is responsible for the implementation of the electronic health record systems in client facilities.
She has been with the Generations family for over 10 years, starting as a Reimbursement Specialist, a Director of Reimbursement Services and was promoted in 2013.
Janet’s first job in the long term healthcare field came as a surprise. She walked into an interview and accepted the rposition of Director of Nursing, a role that lasted for eight years. She was also Director of Medicare Operations for a local long term care company for eight years and a consultant that conducted mock surveys for a larger multistate organization.
“The ability to have long term relationships with the clients is worthwhile and enjoyable,” Janet said. “I’m here because I have the ability to analyze and compute data, I have good clinical knowledge and background in the field and I enjoy training and educating the staff.”
She refers to her degrees as alphabet soup: MBA, bachelor’s degree in nursing and biology, Licensed Nursing Home administrator (LNHA), Registered Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC), Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified (RAC-CT) Certification, and wound care certification (WCC).
She resides in Beach Park, IL with her three dogs- Smokey, Bear and Raven.
