Recently, Generations at Oakton Arms residents Pauline Gabbert, Laurie Gorny, and Jackie Brewer took a moment to share their favorite aspects of the facility.
Pauline, 97, has been an Oakton Arms resident for 3 years. Her favorite aspect of life at the facility is the full curriculum activities, which allow for constant social opportunities and the cultivation of mental acuity.
“Our Activity Director always has things for us to do. You meet a lot of nice new people here and we all join in and play our games. When you do things together, you get to know everybody.”
Laurie, 99, has been an Oakton Arms resident for just over a year. In her experience, she feels that the facility’s strongest suit is the variety of things to do.
“I like it very much here because we are very well taken care of. The food is good. I love the mind games, especially the brain teasers. I love the activities and the people here.”
Jackie, 90, has been an Oakton Arms resident for 4 months. According to Jackie, both the staff and fellow residents are like family to her. Prior to her residence, Jackie couldn’t go out and meet people due to the pandemic. At Oakton Arms, however, she looks forward to meeting new people all the time.
“This is like family. You go down the hall saying hi to everybody. Just the other day, a nurse knocked on my door and asked me if I wanted to come down and make a craft with her. They truly take care of us here.”
