Tyree Miller had a robust career in TV production, from movies to commercials, his life work was intense. As the Lead Lighting Technician, he was responsible for the execution (and sometimes the design) of the lighting plan for a production. With tools and equipment capable of weighing hundreds of pounds, strict time schedules all over a period of many years, his exciting and rewarding career had finally begun to show the consequences to his body.
Having developed severe arthritis in both of his knees, movement was difficult and painful. This difficulty resulted in lack of movement and range of motion, leading Tyree to gain excess weight and at a higher risk of fall injury. Living alone at home, Tyree eventually did fall, leaving him stranded with no ability to reach help in sight. Luckily, his friend came to check up on him and called an ambulance.
Tyree was diagnosed with a broken right knee and found existing untreated severe arthritis in both knees from his many years as a Gaffer and an athlete. He underwent 3 total surgeries to replace both of his knees. If Tyree was to ever walk or gain his independence back, he knew that extensive rehabilitation was the only way.
Tyree picked Generations at Applewood in Matteson, IL. The proximity to his own home, family and friends was the main appeal but stayed for the people and the therapy department that changed his life. Having lost weight to help with therapy and putting in countless hours toward his rehabilitation, Tyree has been discharged home where he can confidently go back and pick up where he left off.
