Generations at Oakton Pavillion

On January 1st 2023, I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis. The doctors told me wife that I was in kidney and liver failure, had developed A-fib, and both of my lungs had collapsed. I was connected to a ventilator and had machines doing almost everything for me. I couldn’t do anything for myself and was dependent on the staff and my wife being my advocate. I was transferred to different hospital, at least three from what I remember. The doctors told my wife that the possibility of my survival was slim to none and that she should start planning my funeral. So the hospital discharge me to a skilled nursing facility but it wasn’t the right fit for me. Luckily my wife didn’t give up on me and here I am now ready to discharge home form Generations of Oakton Pavillion.

My improvement is a complete 360 and that is all thanks to all the wonderful staff at Generations. I am now able to walk with a walker and go up my stairs thanks to the excellent therapy department. I am so thankful for all the amazing CNA’s and nurses that have helped me throughout my journey on being able to go home. The admissions process to getting to this facility was a smooth transit and helpful with all the unanswered questions my wife and I had. The business office was also very helpful and filling out all the necessary applications to get further medical coverage and insurance. This facility doesn’t compare to any other faculties I was at and if anyone every asks me what facility to put their loved ones in I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I just wanna give a huge thanks to everyone at generations. This place will be truly missed but I’m so glad to going home!

Generations at McKinley Court

"Aretta"I came to McKinley Court after I fell and broke my hip. I was at Decatur Memorial Hospital and they told me that McKinley Court and another facility had accepted me, but I knew I wanted to come here. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience. The staff were kind and went out of their way to help me with whatever I needed. With a broken hip, if the staff are not careful it could be very painful to move, but the staff were very gentle and well trained. I know I am safe here at McKinley Court. I can go to bed happy knowing that. The food was great. I enjoyed every meal and I never went away hungry. If I had to choose over again, I would come here again. It has been just wonderful. If I needed long term care, I know I would come back here. I was scared to go to a nursing home, but I was so overwhelmed with the kindness here that I am not afraid anymore. That comes from the bottom of my heart. I love the staff here and I know they love me too.

Generations at Rock Island

After a serious leg injury requiring surgery at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, I spent three months at Generations at Rock Island receiving orthopedic, rehabilitative, and bariatric treatment. I received excellent care and found the nurses, CNAs and other staff to be supportive and caring professionals who kept the best interests of their patients at heart. With the support of the staff I was able to lose a significant amount of weight. The physical therapy department provided an outstanding program focused on my individual needs of improving overall strength, regaining lost mobility, and rehabilitating my injured leg. Their constant support, encouragement and coaching played a huge role in my recovery. I was able to return home, and will return to work soon. I give the folks at Generations at Rock Island a great deal of credit for my recovery, and I can certainly recommend the facility to others.

Generations at Applewood

I had caring treatment by staff during my second visit at Applewood. I completed six weeks of physical and occupational therapy due to a bone fracture in 2014. Thanks to the staff and director of Applewood, I was able to return home walking within 2 months after my injury.

Generations at Regency

I am writing this note to inform you of the outstanding efforts of a Generations at Regency staff member- Natalie, an RN on the 4th floor. I could give you numerous examples of the professionalism and compassion that my family has experienced from her. Last week, while I was visiting my mother, Antoinette, Natalie took time from her busy day to give me a one on one detailed summary of my mother’s status. That was much appreciated. Generations at Regency can be proud of Natalie and the exemplary care she provides to the neediest residents.

Generations at Neighbors

To all the staff at Generations at Neighbors:

I want all of you to know how much respect I have for your care and commitment you give to all your residents. When I left on Good Friday, I was happy to go home to be with my wife and dog. But, I also felt a sadness because I felt like was I was leaving my 2nd family.

I am sorry I could not say goodbye to all the staff on the second and third shifts. There was a small group of nursing staff that I feel helped save my life through the treatment I received. I will not mention any names for fear that I may forget one, but the staff is the BEST – all the way from the nursing staff, kitchen staff, and all the supporting staff.

The staff at Generations at Neighbors made me feel good every day with your smiles and interactions. All of you are the best. I keep all of you in my prayers.

Generations at Elmwood Park

I am writing this letter in regards to the care my mother, Geraldine, receives at Generations at Elmwood Park. In August of 2014 I was looking for a permanent nursing home residence for her after living with and taking care of her for almost six years. I was and still am very protective of my mom. From the moment I met you and other staff members when I came to tour your facility, I knew it was the right place for her.

Everyone is so friendly and caring towards the residents and family members. The entire staff, including the nurses, CNA’s, and social services are very compassionate people. I am there five or six days a week and I’m always impressed by the level of care and patience I witness not only for my mom but other residents as well. Even the maintenance and housekeeping staff will gladly help if I stop them.

The facility is very clean and has a nice, home like feeling to it. Debbie and everyone else at the reception desk are always very welcoming and friendly as soon as I walk in the door. I know my family members that visit my mom always leave with a good impression, which they convey to me.

When my visit with my mom is over, I leave knowing she is in good hands and will be well taken care of. If for any reason I need to check back, I know I’ll get through and the nursing staff will take the time to talk to me. Also, I know they will call to keep me informed of any changes with my mom.

All in all, I am very happy with Generations at Elmwood Park and recommend them to anyone having to make the difficult decision of placing a loved one in a nursing home. I am confident my mom is in the best place possible and I am comfortable knowing she is getting such a high level of care and attention.

It is with sincere gratitude that I write this letter. I hope everyone on the staff knows how much I, and other families appreciate all they do for our loved ones.
